Progress has been slow lately. Work’s been busy and I’ve been struggling a bit for motivation, so there hasn’t been much to show until now.

That said, things are starting to turn around. The other day I headed down to a gaming club and played my first game of the year, dragging my Necrons out of the cupboard in the process. I had a great time, and it reminded me just how much I enjoy the hobby when models actually hit the table. That one game was enough to properly reignite the motivation.

Riding that wave, today I managed to finish my kitbashed Lokhust Lord, and I’m genuinely really pleased with how he’s turned out. I deliberately kept the process simple, partly to avoid overthinking things and partly to keep the momentum going. Limiting the paint selection helped me focus on actually finishing the model rather than endlessly tweaking details.
The AK Playmarker did most of the heavy lifting on the gold, which was a nice change of pace and worked far better than I expected on Necron trim and details.
All in all, it feels good to be painting again — sometimes all it takes is a game to shake off the rust.
