Two Weeks Later – Steady Progress Is Still Progress

It’s been almost two weeks since the last update. Between work and home life, hobby time has been limited — and when you’re tired, it’s far easier to scroll than it is to pick up a brush.

But the other night I did exactly that.

I sat down, put some music on, and decided to just finish what was already on the desk instead of starting something new. That small decision made all the difference.

The Tartaros Centurion is now done, along with the five Tartaros Terminators that were keeping him company. No more “90% finished.” No more “just a few highlights left.” They’re completed, based, and safely tucked into the ready case.

That feeling of closing a project out properly? Worth it.

The centurion in particular feels like a step forward. I pushed the highlights a little harder than I normally would, especially on the green, and I think it paid off. He stands out just enough from the squad without looking out of place. Exactly what I wanted.

Tactical Squad

The tactical marines are sitting at about 90% complete now. They’re in that awkward stage where all the major work is done, but there are still details to tidy, transfers to apply, and the inevitable “one more highlight pass” temptation to resist.

Progress is good though. Models are moving from the painting desk to the case — and that’s the important part.

Slowhammer isn’t about speed. It’s about consistency.

Side Quests

It hasn’t just been heresy on the desk either.

Lokhust heavy Destroyers

I built up another seven Lokhust Heavy Destroyers, which brings the Necron pile of shame slightly closer to becoming an actual phalanx of doom. They’re such chunky, aggressive models — very different energy to the disciplined lines of the Heresy stuff. It’s nice switching gears.

Hobby Space Upgrade

I also finally got the paint rack mounted on the wall. It sounds small, but having everything visible and organised makes a massive difference. Less time digging through drawers = more time actually painting.

It makes the hobby space feel… intentional. Like a place you want to sit down and work.

A Game of 40k

On top of that, I managed to get a game of 40k in with a mate. Honestly, that’s probably what’s keeping the motivation ticking over.

Playing reminds me why I paint in the first place.

Putting freshly finished models on the table hits different. Even if they’re not “perfect,” they’re mine — and they’re painted.
